Who We Are
“In Every Tear, We Plant Hope.”
The Maasai Women and Orphans Organisation (MWAOO) is a community-based, non-profit organisation operating in Monduli District, Arusha Region, in the United Republic of Tanzania. We exist to improve the lives of Maasai women and orphaned and vulnerable children by expanding access to education, healthcare, food security, and economic opportunity.
We work to break cycles of equality and breathe joy back into the hearts of woman and orphanage children whose voices have been silenced and stories unseen. We implement targeted programs aimed at improving social-economic conditions, educational opportunities and overall well being of Maasai women and orphanage children. In doing so we contribute to gender equality and long-term sustainable development within the Maasai community.
